MIMS stands for mineral insualted metal sheathed cables.
MI cables are manufactured by placing conductors inside a metal tubes and filling the intervening spaces with dry mineral insulators. The overall assembly is then swaged or cold drawn to reduce its diameter (and increase its length). MI cables use minerals like Mangnesium oxide or Aluminium oxide, and these type of insulations are more resistant to fires than plastic-insulated cables and are suitable for high temperature applications. Mineral Insulated metal sheathed base metal thermocouple cable.
Mineral insulated metal sheathed cables are proven choice in industrial thermometry. It offers superior properties as compared to conventional (Ceramic bead insulated) thermometers. Some of the advantage are enlisted below,
- MI thermocouple resist oxidation of conductor and thus provide longer life.
- Mi thermometers are flexible in design and can be installed at odd location
- They are available in long length and due to flexible in design, it is easy in transportation
- Due to compact powder they are least susceptible in vibration.
- Thermal reponse time is better
- It s possible to fabricate thermocouple with small Outer diameter .

Unless otherwise confirmed, all thermocouple conductor arrangement are arrange in alternate configuration in duplex and triplex thermocouples, and 4 pair thermocouple as shown below.
Mineral Insulated metal sheathed cable for Industrial Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs)
MI RTD cable is generally part of RTD Assembly, used for attaching sensing element to a sensor termination. It may also be used as an extension cable from assembly to any another device. Overall construction is similar like MI thermocouple cable. However, internal conductor are copper , nickel or constanat instead of thermocouple wire.

We offer assemblies with various configuration like simplex /duplex version with compensating wires suitable for R/S/B type.
These assemblies are manufactured as per customers specifications.
ECR heater
Expanded Cold region Heaters are heaters with unique integral construction These heaters have bigger cold region sheath diameter as well as conductor diameter as compared to hot diameter. Also, MgO powder is densely packed so that heat transfer is fast.
Typical construction of this heater is shown below.
Hot length can be as long as 1 mtr to 30 mtrs (even longer in special case) These kind of heaters are normally wound around vessel or pipe lines. This product is designed and developed as per customer requirement.
Signal Cables
For very specific applications , mineral insualted and metal sheathed signal cables are used in place of polymer/organic insulated cables.
Construction of this cables are customized as per requirement. There are various confuctor material to choose from, viz copper, nichrome, constant, stainless steel etc.
We can also develop MI cables with customer specific conductor material. SIgnal cables are also available in multi sheath or dual sheatharrangement.
Generally coaxial cables are used with this kind of construction in Nuclear Power plants, research centres etc.

We also offer specific designs of SELF POWERED NEUTRON DETECTORS which are used for in-core measurement of themal neutron flux in atomic power plant.
This product is having integral design for more reliability. This product is available with or without compensating leads.
